Bio
My name is Laura. This is my family.
I have been blogging about natural childbirth and my life since May 2008. I am an advocate on issues of importance to parents, women and children. I regularly use my blog as a platform to create awareness and to advocate natural childbirth only because I want to share what I have learned with other Mothers. My hope is that they too can step out and make birth choices for themselves, as oppose to allowing someone else to dictate their decisions.
My parenting philosophy and me
- I’m the mother of one boy and due with another boy in June 2011.
- I believe firmly in attachment parenting and find that this approach is very instinctual to me. I breastfeed, babywear, and (try to) co-sleep. I do not spank or let my children “cry it out”.
- I am not religious (but I do have an open mind).
- I enjoy nature and want to share the inspiring beauty of the outdoors with my children.
- I care about the environment and try to make choices in parenting and life with the environment in mind.
- I respect my child. I treat him with compassion and talk to him like a little adult.
- I believe in diversity and want my children to be exposed to diversity on all levels.
- I am an entrepreneur. I am a professional ceramic artist and graphic designer. I became my own boss before my son was born to have more flexibility to spend time with my family. My husband works as a warehouse manager and plays a mean Gibson guitar.
- I read to my child. I believe that books can guide creativity. Most of my personal reading right now is parenting books.
- I enjoy the beach, spending time with my family and eating really good food.
